What Lasers Can Do For You
The use of chemical peels actually goes back to the days of Cleopatra. The treatment is still used by established cosmetic doctors today, but lasers are becoming increasingly popular. While one treatment is ancient and the other is high-tech, they work in a similar fashion. Both treatment options stimulate the top layer of the skin to shed and reorient new collagen. As it heals, collagen production is stimulated and a new set of skin emerges. This new skin is not only smoother, but less wrinkled and pigmented as well.
Benefits of Laser Treatment:
- Erase Fine Lines & Wrinkles
- Smooth & Tighten Skin
- Improve Skin Tone & Texture
- Stimulate Collagen Production
- Remove Brown Spots
- Improve Deep Wrinkles
- Improve & Flatten Scars
There are several different makes and models of lasers, but only two main types; ablative and non-ablative. The ablative laser wounds the surface of the skin aggressively, while the non-ablative lasers poke a pattern of tiny holes in the skin, stimulating collaged production and skin tightening under the surface.
Dr. Azizzadeh uses the Palomar StarLux-1540, which is a non-ablative laser that improves the appearance of the skin. The laser delivers fractioned light in an array of high precision microbeams that penetrate the skin and go into the dermis, creating narrow but deep columns of skin coagulation. Essentially, the laser treatment triggers the skin to repair itself by pushing out the old, damaged skin and replacing it with new skin that looks younger and healthier. Since the Palomar laser delivers fractioned light, the results are more consistent across the area being treated. It is a much less invasive treatment compared to other laser procedures, and therefore results in a much quicker laser recovery time.
There are many laser options out there, but the Palomar StarLux-1540 is in a league of its own. The laser effectively smooths skin texture, removes wrinkles, and makes your skin look several years younger.
