What Is A Facelift?

What Is A Facelift?A facelift is a surgical procedure that is typically used to give a more youthful appearance to the face.

Generally, this cosmetic surgery should be used to reshape the face by removing excess facial skin that is commonly present in the lower face and neck. Facelift procedures should almost always include the tightening of underlying structural tissues (Also known as “SMAS”) in order to achieve a more natural and long-lasting outcome.

To achieve the best result, a facelift is often combined with additional procedures addressing the signs of aging on the forehead, cheeks, brows and/or eyes. Fat grafting and fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm, and Sculptra are almost always a routine part of this operation.

With the aim of improving cosmetic procedures, new surgical options, methods, and techniques are constantly being developed. Dr. Azizzadeh utilizes the most minimally invasive facelift techniques, when possible, to reduce scarring and allow for a shorter recovery time. The result of a facelift is a smoother, more youthful appearance. A facelift can remove and tighten sagging skin, reduce the droop of the cheeks around the jaw line, lift the corners of the mouth, and diminish the creases between the cheeks and lips.

Prior to surgery, Dr. Azizzadeh will review your medical history. There will be analysis and evaluation of blood pressure, blood clotting, medications, cigarette smoking, drug use, allergies, scarring, and skin condition. Dr. Azizzadeh will also explain what the surgery will involve, where it will take place, and how the recovery works.
