The area under the eye as it blends to the side of the nose and cheeks is sometimes referred to as a ‘tear trough’.  Some people have a harsh line in this location leading to an unflattering and tired appearance.  Smoothing the tear trough with injectable fillers can make a noticeable improvement without the need for surgery.

Injection technique, such as placing the product in the right location deep to the muscle can help reduce possible adverse events and improve outcome.  Dr. Azizzadeh uses a “multi-level” technique to create a superior outcome with blunt cannulas in order to reduce risk of bruising.

The type of needle used is extremely important.  Most recently many physicians including Dr. Azizzadeh have been utilizes with blunt-tipped cannulas to help reduce the chance of bruising.  This evolution minimizes the risk of injecting into a blood vessel or causing any bleeding around the eye.

There is also much debate about which filler is the best for treating the tear trough area.  Some believe Restylane is better, some prefer Juvederm.  No matter which product the risk of complications is the same and dependent on technique.

Dr. Azizzadeh has many years of expertise in treating tear troughs.  If you would like to schedule a consultation please contact our office.
