Teenage Plastic Surgery: Is It Right?
Plastic surgery has always been a bit of a taboo, with only reconstructive surgery getting the recognition and praise that it truly deserves. What we want to discuss in this blog post is the issue of teenagers being unhappy with their bodies. Whether it’s caused by the media or not, it happens, so what should be done?
The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery has carried out a number of surveys on procedures carried out on all age groups, and the majority of under 18 year olds had rhinoplasty or otoplasty procedures. Nobody can deny that there are many embarrassing conditions that affect the nose and ears, particularly prominent ears that require pinning. Rhinoplasties are not always carried out solely for aesthetic purposes either, as conditions such as a broken nose or deviated septum can cause breathing problems that are particularly unpleasant for the sufferer.
Each case is, and should be considered individually, and it is essential that physicians and surgeons continue to have regular, up to date ethical coaching as well as their academic and medical training. Having trained at Harvard and UCLA, Dr. Babak Azizzadeh is very well qualified in plastic surgery for all ages. So, if you are or you have a relative who is under the age of 18 and considering facial plastic surgery, you can always get in touch for advice an/or an appointment via our contact page.
