Minimize Your Scars With One Of These TreatmentsWe all have scars on our bodies that we wish weren’t there. Some of us have scars that remind us of our teenage acne, while others have surgical scars that represent triumph. Regardless of where they came from, there are treatments to minimize their appearance, or in some cases get rid of them completely!

There are several scar treatments and which one is best for you depends on your particular scar. Some of the most common scar minimizing treatments include:

  • Lasers
  • Hyaluronic fillers (Restylane and Juvederm)
  • Chemical peels

Laser technology provides Dr. Azizzadeh with a great tool for minimizing the appearance of scars.  Lasers are one of the best options for scar reduction because Dr. Azizzadeh can specifically target the scar, without causing damage to the surrounding skin. Fractional lasers and CO2 lasers are great treatments for removing acne scars. Surgical scars are a little tougher to treat with lasers because they will not completely remove these deeper scars. However, IPL laser treatments can target the red pigment in scars, making it look more like the color of the surrounding skin.

Fillers, like Juvederm and Restylane, can be used to help lift depressed scars and smooth out the area. Using filler is an effective, yet temporary, solution to minimizing the appearance of both acne and surgical scars.

Chemical peels are an effective treatment for superficial acne scars.  Peels do not work on deep scars because even the strongest peels cannot penetrate deep enough to make a dramatic difference.

With all of these great treatment options you will be able to minimize the appearance of your unwanted scar!
