Healing After Facial Plastic Surgery
After you undergo facial plastic surgery, the most important thing that you can do is to follow the post operative guidelines as outlined by your surgeon. Doing so will make the healing process much more manageable, and you’ll be able to enjoy the results of your procedure sooner.
For two weeks after surgery, it’s best to continue staying away from supplements, aspirin products and ibuprofen products. Use ice for the first 72 hours and then move to warm compresses to help get rid of bruising. Believe it or not, frozen peas actually work better than ice because they mold better to the face. It’s also important to keep strenuous activity to a minimum for at least three weeks. When resuming physical activity, start off slowly and work up to the level you were at before having surgery.
After having rhinoplasty, refrain from wearing eyeglasses for six weeks to prevent an indentation in the bridge. If you have undergone a facelift or necklift wearing the stretchy headband after for three weeks is ideal. During the first week, try to wear it as often as possible. During weeks two and three, wearing it only while you sleep will provide the best results.
