Celebrities Open Up About Cosmetic Surgery
Earlier this year, TV personality and actress Kelly Ripa opened up about getting Botox injections in her armpits to prevent sweating and around her eyes to keep her lids from drooping. Although she says that she has never had cosmetic surgery, she is unfazed by sharing her adventures with Botox. Babak Azizzadeh, MD, FACS, facial plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, says that celebrities are becoming increasingly candid when it comes to cosmetic procedures.
“It used to be taboo to seek any sort of cosmetic or plastic surgery procedure, but now it seems that people are becoming much more comfortable with the idea of utilizing these cutting-edge techniques we have to restore or maintain a youthful appearance,” said Dr. Azizzadeh in response to Ripa’s interview.
Botox for hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, is a common procedure performed by Dr. Azizzadeh and his skin specialist, Jodi Slavica, RN in Beverly Hills. When Botox is injected into the hands or underarms, it has proven to be effective in blocking the secretion of sweat at the injection site. This is great for patients who are self-conscious about their excessive sweating, especially those living in the public eye like Kelly Ripa.
“Botox is an injectable treatment indicated for use in hyperhidrosis patients, but it also can be used to treat migraines and facial paralysis, as well as the cosmetic purpose of wrinkle reduction. When performed by an experienced injector, Botox injections have proven to be very safe and effective,” explained expert injector, Nurse Jodi Slavica.
At the Center for Advanced Facial Plastic Surgery in Beverly Hills, Dr. Azizzadeh and Nurse Jodi are known for their expertise in the use of Botox and other injectable treatments. Whether it is for droopy brows and sweaty underarms like TV’s morning talk show maven Kelly Ripa, or the prevention of migraines, or simply to reduce the appearance of deep frown lines, the Center for Advanced Facial Plastic Surgery is the place to go in Beverly Hills.
“We are seeing a steady increase in patients seeking cosmetic procedures and I think the media has a lot to do with it. With celebrities opening up about their treatments, the general population is more willing to give it a try and even recommend it to others. When you visit an expert injector, there is nothing wrong with getting a little Botox to look and feel younger,” said Dr. Babak Azizzadeh, Beverly Hills facial plastic surgeon.
Dr. Azizzadeh is the author of five bestselling books, including the popular consumer guidebook “Beverly Hills Beauty Secrets.” He was recognized as a Beauty Expert in 2012, and has been featured in popular media outlets such as Entertainment Tonight, The Doctors, LA Times and the NY Times. Dr. Azizzadeh serves on the Physician Advisory Board of Sanofi-Aventis, Mysoscience, Mentor, and SkinMedica, and was awarded the RealSelf Top Botox Experts Award in 2011.
