All About Ulthera
Unfortunately, we all lose collagen as we age causing our skin to gradually sag over time. At the age of 30 our bodies stop producing collagen. This can result in a droopy brow line, double chin, or a “turkey neck.” Traditionally, a surgical facelift was the only treatment option, but now if you’re looking to tighten up sagging skin and get a more youthful appearance, but are hesitant to undergo surgery, Ulthera may be a good choice for you. Ulthera is a nonsurgical skin-tightening device used by the Center for Advanced Facial Plastic Surgery’s skin expert, Nurse Jodi.
What is Ulthera?
Ulthera is a tightening device that uses focused ultrasound waves to reach varying depths in your face and neck. The ultrasound waves are passed focused at 4.5 mm 3.0 mm and 1.5 mm depth. As the waves cross each other they get hot, 60-70 degrees Celsius. At this temperature the collagen lifts, tightens and stimulates the dormant collagen cells to start producing again. The stimulation of the production of new collagen gives skin a youthful appearance.
Ulthera is commonly used to tighten loose skin around the neck and brow, a sagging jawline, and double chin. An ultherapy treatment typically only takes about 60 minutes to 90 minutes in the office and most patients experience no downtime, returning to normal activity within a day. The results of Ulthera are subtle and increase gradually over the course of the next several months. This means everyone will notice how young and rested you’re looking, without ever suspecting you’ve had work done.
Ulthera is a great treatment to use in conjunction with facial fillers, fat grafting, and lasers for a complete nonsurgical facelift and optimal results. All of these procedures work together to tighten and rejuvenate the skin and restore it to a more youthful appearance. Nurse Jodi can recommend a combination of treatments to give you the results you’re looking for during your consultation.
