IPL Photofacial

Los Angeles IPLDr. Azizzadeh is an expert plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, specializing in IPL photofacial laser treatments. With the IPL technology, Dr. Azizzadeh is able to safely, easily and effectively treat a variety of dermatological and cosmetic skin conditions.

IPL photofacial is great for treating:

  • Freckles
  • Age spots
  • Sun spots
  • Brown spots
  • Birthmarks
  • Seborrheic keratoses
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Port wine stains
  • Rosacea
  • Blood vessels
  • Skin texture
  • Spider veins (broken capillaries around the nose)

IPL Laser IPL treatments restore your beautiful skin. As we age, photo damage (sun damage) becomes more pronounced and visible signs of aging are revealed. IPL technology allows Dr. Azizzadeh to reverse brown spots, sun damage and facial veins. The IPL delivers high-intensity pulses of light that penetrate your skin and target melanin (the brown pigment in freckles and age spots) or hemoglobin (the red blood cells in the blood vessels). The light beam is absorbed by either the melanin or hemoglobin resulting in fragmentation of the melanin pigment or damage to the vessel walls. The body is then able to absorb the tiny vessels or melanin pigment, making them less visible.

After your first photofacial IPL treatment the appearance of your skin will already begin to improve. However, most patients require 3-6 IPL sessions, spaced 4-8 weeks apart, in order to achieve maximum skin rejuvenation. One of the great benefits of IPL treatments is that they require virtually no down time and you can return to your daily activities the same day.

After Treatment Skin Care

  • Avoid Excessive Heat: For 2 days post-treatment, avoid partaking in activities that will heat up your skin, such as going in a hot tub/Jacuzzi/sauna, or strenuous exercise.
  • Skin Care Products: All of your skin care products should be non-irritating and non-clogging for the first week. Please do not use any scrubs, toners, glycolic acid, retinoids (RetinA or retinol), or bleaching creams (hydroquinoin) until your skin has healed. If in doubt, please use the post-procedure system available in our office.
  • Sunscreen: Proper and frequent application of sunscreen is very important. The sunscreen should offer broadband protection (UVA and UVB) and have a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or more. You should apply sunscreen 20 minutes before going outside, and again, immediately before. After that, reapply your sunscreen every 2 hours. If direct sun exposure is necessary, wear a hat and clothing that covers the treated area. Use this regimen during the healing period and always.
